Hi, I’m Louisa, the founder of Louisa Scott Jewellery. I’m an Irish jewelry designer and adventurer, currently based on the east coast of Ireland. My journey with jewellery began in 2013, and since then, my love for design and travel has taken me all over the world.

In the early years of my career, I worked in fine jewellery in both London and Belfast, where I developed a deep appreciation for gemstones. I went on to earn my FGA (Gemmology Diploma) from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, which led me to work with a fifth-generation gem merchant in Sri Lanka. There, I had the incredible opportunity to experience the entire mine-to-market journey of gemstones firsthand.

In 2020, after years of travel and hands-on experience in the industry, I made the decision to become a goldsmith and I now design and create jewellery myself from my workshop in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. The diverse cultures and landscapes I’ve explored continue to shape my designs and approach to craftsmanship.

For me, jewellery is about connection. It’s a deeply human expression, intertwined with our history and psyche. My designs are not just about the perceived value of materials but about self-expression, marking meaningful moments, and our connection with the natural world. My work blends my creative instincts with the knowledge gained through my travels and career, transforming raw materials into pieces that resonate with personal stories and emotions.

What I love most about the jewellery industry is how it weaves together so many different disciplines—history, geology, science, art, and culture. Working at the bench allows me to integrate these influences in my creations. I love the hands-on, physical nature of making—how it’s both precise and rough, embracing the raw, unrefined aspects of the process while transforming them into something polished and meaningful.
