Sun Disc Earrings
The Sun Disc Earrings from the Sun and Moon series capture the engraved lotus flower motif from the pendant in a smaller, wearable form. Each earring is set with 7 freshwater drop pearls, a sacred number.
The design reflects the harmony of Irish and Sri Lankan art, inspired by the ancient sun discs, torcs, and golden forms I saw in Dublin, and the symbolic lotus carvings I encountered in Sri Lanka.
The lotus flower, one of Sri Lanka’s national symbols, is often seen in art and architecture and carries deep traditional and spiritual meaning. Closely linked with Theravada Buddhism, it is a sacred symbol representing purity, resilience, and spiritual growth.
